Restaurant Business on Wednesday was named a finalist for 11 Jesse H. Neal Awards, including two recognitions for the full team and multiple individual honors.
In its 70th year, the Neal Awards presented by the Software & Information Industry Association, or SIIA, celebrate excellence in business-to-business journalism. Award finalists will be named at a ceremony in New York City, scheduled for April 26.
“This slate of nominations is further evidence of the hard work, talent and dedication of the Restaurant Business team,” Managing Editor Heather Lalley said. “It is gratifying to see Restaurant Business recognized by its peers for its commitment to delivering important, compelling and engaging journalism to its restaurant industry audience.”

- Restaurant Business team: Best range of work by a media brand; best subject-related package for Tipping Point
- Peter Romeo, Lisa Jennings and Jonathan Maze: Best news coverage for reporting on California’s fast-food compromise
- Kimmy “Spoons” Kaczmarek and Jonathan Maze: Best Podcast for A Deeper Dive
- Joe Guszkowski: Best profile for his story, Marc Lore’s Wonder is reinventing the meal
- Peter Romeo: Best commentary for his Reality Check column
- Taylor Moschau, Jared Moschau, Jonathan Maze: Best multimedia profile for Restaurant Leader of the Year
- Jonathan Maze: Best industry coverage for reporting on franchising problems; best range of work by a single author; best series for The Demise of Boston Market; best single article for The Tragedy of Dominik Mendoza
Last year, Restaurant Business took home three Neal Awards. Earlier this week, RB was notified that it is a finalist for 10 regional awards from the American Society of Business Publication Editors. (ASPBE).
