Restaurant Business Online is a finalist for 10 Upper Midwest regional awards from the American Society of Business Publication Editors (ASBPE), known as the Azbees, the industry group announced Monday.
Regional winners will be announced at chapter events in April and May. National finalists will be announced on April 18.
Held annually, the awards honor the top reporting, writing and design at business publications around the country.
RB Senior Art Director Nico Heins is nominated for best website design, as well as best article design.
Other nominees include:
- Senior Editor Patricia Cobe, for her feature story about signature sauces at restaurants.
- Executive Editor Lisa Jennings, for her feature article about two very popular independent restaurants in Frankenmuth, Mich., “They come for the kitsch. They stay for the chicken dinner.”
- Editor-at-Large Peter Romeo, for his company profile of Jersey Mike’s and for his ongoing coverage of California’s fast-food wage increase.
- Senior Editor Joe Guszkowski, for an in-depth report on pricing markups at DoorDash
- Editor Reyna Estrada, for her reporting on sustainability in the restaurant industry
- Jonathan Maze, for his series of stories on the demise of Boston Market, as well as for an investigative report on a Quiznos franchisee who committed suicide
